Roles of Social Sciences in Sustainability Transformation in the Global South

Call for papers and posters

Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Social Sciences, in collaboration with its organizing partners, invites papers and posters for its first International Conference titled “Roles of Social Sciences in Sustainability Transformation in the Global South”.

The conference investigates how Social Sciences may contribute to the conception, design and implementation of the many sustainability transformations that must be accomplished if people across the Global South are to continue to experience sustainable gains in their lives and livelihoods. We invite interested scholars from across the world to submit papers or posters that, from a social sciences perspective, deal with any of the following themes or any other themes relevant to sustainability transformations in the Global South:

• Trends, challenges and barriers to sustainability transformation in the Global South
• Design (and re-design) of sustainability transformations
• Governance of sustainability transformations
• Agri-food transformations and Future Food
• Sustainable urban development
• Sustainable communities
• The role of media in accomplishing sustainability transformations
• Accommodating polarization in a post-truth world
• Digital transformations
• Technologies for sustainability transformation
• Sustainable transformation of tourism
• Community heritage for posterity and social acceptance
• Sustainability transformation through a historical lens

All accepted papers will receive a presentation slot in the conference and be included in the conference proceedings (provided that all applicable fees are paid). A selection of the best papers will also be invited for publication in the Kasetsart Journal of Social Sciences (indexed in Scopus, ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), and Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI-G1)).

All accepted posters will be hosted on the conference website, and the accompanying research abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings (provided that all applicable fees are paid).

Papers will go through a one-step submission process. Authors are requested to submit their full papers which will be peer-reviewed for acceptance by the conference scientific committee. For posters a two-step process applies: poster authors are requested to submit an abstract for peer review first. The authors of accepted abstracts will then be invited to submit full posters for the conference. Guidelines for paper and poster authors are available at our conference website.

Papers and abstracts for posters should be uploaded to the conference website by 18 March 2022. Results of the peer-review procedure will be announced no later than 18 April 2022. The conference itself will take place – online – on 9 June 2022.
