We focus on the social integration of sciences to create academic excellence and to sustainably develop society. We provide classes in six departments including psychology, law, history, geography, political science and public administration, and sociology and humanities.

There will be events to celebrate this crucial moment throughout the year including this international conference and the opening of the cutting-edge Social Sciences Building 5 which will house the Faculties’ Centres of Excellence including Kasetsart University Africa-Asia Programme (KU-AAP).

1. The Faculty of Liberal Arts, Ubon Ratchathani University


The Faculty of Liberal Arts is located on the main campus of Ubon Ratchathani University in Ban Sri Kai Sub-district, Warinchamrab District, Ubon Ratchathani. The Faculty was formerly known as the Institute of Language and Culture, a government unit that was equivalent in terms of status to a faculty. The Institute offered languages, humanities, and social sciences in core courses for all Ubon Ratchathani University students throughout Thailand’s seventh Higher Education Development Plan (1992 – 1996). It later extended its mission and increased its working capacity to include producing graduates in the Departments of Western Languages and Literature, Eastern Languages and Literature, Humanities, and Social Sciences especially in the needed majors, fostering research projects, providing academic services to local communities, and preserving culture and arts. On December 27, 1999, which was during the eighth Higher Education Development Plan (1997 – 2001), the Institute was elevated to a faculty and renamed the Faculty of Liberal Arts. The faculty welcomed its first undergraduate classes of English and Communication in 1999 and Tourism in 2000. At present, the Faculty of Liberal Arts is committed to producing graduates who excel in academic pursuits, uphold high moral standards, and are well-informed about social changes. It strives to create and integrate a body of knowledge about local languages, communities, cultures, and wisdom, which can be utilized for the development of Southern Isan, Thailand, and the Mekong Region. Hence, the vision of the faculty is to be a leading faculty of liberal arts for social innovation development in the GMS region.

2. Centre for Asian Studies (CAS), University of Ghana


The Centre for Asian Studies was established following a decision by the Council of the University of Ghana in October 2015 and began formal operations on August 1, 2016. The centre is one of the nine research centres under the College of Humanities, which are Ghana’s premier and pre-eminent centre exclusively dedicated to supporting research, training and exchange programmes and activities in Asian studies in close collaboration with Asian and other global partners. At present, CAS seeks to be a world-class platform for innovative research, training and exchange programmes and activities in Asian studies relevant for mutually beneficial relations between Africa and Asia. In order to be a world-class and research-intensive institution, CAS will focus on building advanced multidisciplinary and comparative competencies and capacity for research and training on Asian studies for Ghana and Africa, carrying out high-quality policy and development-focused research on Africa-Asia relations to promote the socio-cultural and politico-economic transformation of Ghana and Africa, and serving as the foremost hub in Ghana and Africa for academic and non-academic exchanges between cultural, social and policy organizations in Asia and other parts of the world.

3. Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB University, Bogor, Indonesia


The Faculty of Human Ecology is one of 10 faculties and schools that together make up IPB University (previously known as Bogor Agricultural University). IPB University is a research-based higher education institution with a strong reputation for producing innovations the qualities of which are acknowledged both nationally and internationally. The Faculty of Human Ecology’s key research competences and educational offerings are concentrated in three areas, namely: community nutrition science, family and consumer sciences, and communication and community development. 4. Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration


The Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration (EROPA) is an international organization of states, institutions, groups and individuals in the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 1960 to promote regional cooperation in improving knowledge, systems and practices of government administration, the organization has developed into the region’s premier collaborative platform for scholars and practitioners of Public Administration working towards effective and efficient public service and governance. EROPA endeavors to achieve its objectives through regional conferences, seminars, training programs, and publications, and cooperates with several UN agencies. EROPA’s activities are carried out through its headquarters in Manila, and through five regional centers in Gwacheon, Beijing, Tokyo, Jakarta, and New Delhi. 5. National College of Public Administration & Governance, University of the Philippines


The National College of Public Administration & Governance (NCPAG) is the Philippines’ leading academic institution and a center of excellence in the wider region, in providing instruction, research and extension services in public management and public policy. Since its establishment in 1952, the NCPAG has expanded its scope from an exclusive focus on governmental management to the broader concern of governance for the public interest. In addition to offering a variety of academic degree programs, the NCPAG undertakes research, training and extension, and consultancy on leadership, citizenship, civil society, and democracy and its institutions.
